If there is a draught then the grass may not grow as much so the herbivores will not have as much food and they will not thrive as much and then there will be less of them to eat for carnivores and their populations would dwindle as well. If there was an invasive species it could eat or kill all of the other animals and cause major problems

The source of energy is the sun. If there is more rabbits than usual then the predators above the rabbit will thrive and and eventually they will eat so many rabbits the population of rabbits will go down and then the populations of the predators will go down as well.
